The hip crease must pass below the knees. A full squat clean into the thruster is allowed. The barbell must come to full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the heels. Partners must start each rep at the same time and both finish at full extension over head for the rep to count.

The arms must be fully extended at the bottom with the feet off the ground. At the top, the chest must clearly come into contact with the bar. Partners must start their set of pull ups at the same time for the reps to count. Any rep completed before a sub-team member’s partner has started their set will not be counted. Both sub-team members must have finished all of their reps before the next sub-team may start their round.

This is a standard pull-up. Dead-hang or kipping pull-ups are all allowed as long as all the requirements are met. The arms must be fully extended at the bottom with the feet off the ground. At the top, the chin must break the horizontal plane of the bar. Partners must start their set of pull ups at the same time for the reps to count. Any rep completed before a sub-team member’s partner has started their set will not be counted. Both sub-team members must have finished all of their reps before the next sub-team may start their round.

Jumping Pull ups

At the top, the chin must break the horizontal plane of the bar. Partners must start their set of pull ups at the same time for the reps to count. The barbell must travel from hang (anywhere between the knees and the hips) to the shoulders with the athlete receiving the bar above a parallel squat position. The athlete must stand up to full extension before the bar leaves the shoulders for the next rep. Partners must start each rep at the same time and barbells be resting on the shoulders with hips and knees at full extension at the same time for the rep to count.

Stepping back and/or stepping back in to the rep is only permitted for Category C athletes. The athlete must jump over the barbell with a two footed take-off and landing. The barbell must be loaded with standard-height bumper plates for the athlete to jump over except for Category C females who may be using a 15kg bar. The rep ends when the athlete lands on both feet on the opposite side of the barbell. Partner’s chests must be in contact with the floor at the same time for the rep to count

Score – The team score will be the time it takes to get both sub-teams through the workout.

Your score will be the time on the clock when sub-team B completes their 9 burpees-over-bar.

Thank you to everyone that has registered for the 2018/19 London Box Battles! We’ve received a great response from affiliates and some really helpful feedback.
We’ve taken all of your comments on board and made some further changes to the way the 2018/19 series will run.
– Athletes will now register and compete in teams of 4 (2 male, 2 female) within the A, B and C categories.
– Teams will compete in 3 qualifiers throughout July, October and January for a place in the final.
– Qualification heats will be held “in house” eliminating logistical travel issues and the administrative burden around arranging catering.
– The registration fee will be £60 per team, per event (£15 per athlete) with proceeds going towards the final.
– Teams will be able to register in the month leading up to each event with registration closing before each qualification round is released.
– Boxes will be given a two week window to host their in house qualifier and submit scores for their teams.
– The top 3 teams in each category will battle it out in the final in April/May for guaranteed prizes.
The changes to the format of the 2018/19 series mean that there is still time to register your affiliate. If logistical issues were a concern, now you can get involved!
Team registration will open later this week with Round 1 being released in the first couple of weeks of July.

The Team at 3 Aces CrossFit are happy to announce that we will now be running The London Box Battles. A big thanks goes out to StreTch Rayner for putting together the previous events!

Now it’s time to open registration to CrossFit affiliates across London and draw up the battle plans.

We’re changing things up this year. . . . .
The plan for the first three rounds is for all registered athletes to compete as individuals, but scores will be counted as teams consisting of the top three male and top two female athletes from each box.
Each box will be able to enter up to two team scores in each category (A, B and C).
If a box has two teams competing in any category, the 4th, 5th and 6th best male score, along with the 3rd and 4th best female score will make up Team 2.
The final will be a competition between the top 6 teams in each category.

Round One – July 2018
Round Two – October 2018
Round Three – January 2019
Final – April/May 2019

For Boxes wanting to get involved, download the affiliate registration form here.

Completed forms should be emailed to info@thelondonboxbattles.co.uk

Affiliate registration closes 31 May 2018.
